Eyecatcher - Young 11 - Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

Rod Viney writes via email:

My name is Rod Viney and am the owner and racing a Young 11 (Eyecatcher) in Hobart - great to read your website - I am particularly interested in your keel configuration as my boat has just a standard spade keel - is there a design company or specifiactions available for the keel - I have included some photos which may be of interest. I would also be interested in your deck layout if you have some photos, particularly mainsheet system, backstay.

Regarding the question about the keel, if anyone out there has information about the "Wellington Keel" please send your comment in, and we will pass on as appropriate. We will also publish the answers here, if you agree.

Comments and Feedback about Eyecatcher

"Hey there, I was reading about Eycatcher on your site. I sail on Forever Young from Christchurch, NZ and am not completely sure, but I think our keel was done by Davie Norris. We have a similar bulbed keel. Flying Circus looks is great, and awesome to see all those Wellington boats down in Christchurch last year". - Dave Haylock

"Hi, I have done a little research on the keel and High Modulus in NZ know nothing about the "Wellington Keel", there is another Young 11 in Melbourne Young Ones with a newer keel but I don't know if its this type although High Modulus did some work on that boat. I guess its a matter of looking for the foundry in NZ that makes them. I understand quite a few Y11's have the modified keels". - Chris Idle
